Everyone has that one raised mole on their face they’ve lived with forever, usually a spot of concern. With a big event like my wedding coming up, I decided it was time to finally take care of it. I looked into standard dermatologist laser treatments first, but because of the size, they said it would take multiple sessions and the cost wasn’t cheap. That’s when I found out about handling it with ‘Acupuncture Therapy’ at an oriental medicine clinic.
The biggest draw was that it pulls the mole out by the root, so you can see results in just one session. Saving the trouble of going back and forth to the hospital multiple times was a huge advantage. It wasn’t exactly cheap, but considering the time and effort, I judged it to be worth it, so I booked an appointment at the Cheonho Resam Oriental Medicine Clinic near my home.
Consultation and Price Information #
Before the procedure, I looked up review videos on YouTube. The scenes of needles being placed around the mole and pulling it out directly looked quite scary. I went in for the consultation full of worry and fear. The doctor reassured me that it wouldn’t be as painful as I thought. He mentioned that in the past, they even did it without numbing cream. But for someone already terrified like me, that wasn’t much comfort. Fortunately, thanks to my girlfriend cheering me on and holding my hand, I was able to work up the courage.
The price, which you’re probably most curious about, was 220,000 KRW for one raised mole about 5mm in size. Including one large mole and a few small ones, I spent about 350,000 KRW in total. I remember the very small moles were about 11,000 KRW each.
Acupuncture Procedure, Honest Pain Level #
After applying numbing cream and waiting for a while, the doctor comes in to start the procedure. As seen in the videos, needles are placed around the mole, and then using a thread like dental floss, the needles are tied together and the mole is pulled out with a tug.
To be honest about the pain, the raised one had some size to it, so even with anesthesia, there was quite a stinging sensation. On the other hand, the other small moles had absolutely no feeling to the point where I didn’t even know if the procedure was done. The procedure time itself wasn’t long, so it ended more easily than I had feared.

Post-Procedure Condition and Regrets #
The procedure was generally finished well, but there was one slightly regrettable part. One regular mole wasn’t pulled out perfectly cleanly. The doctor said the root was removed well, but I think we need to watch the progress as time passes. He said if the mole remains, he would remove it with a laser for free later, so I came back feeling reassured for now.
Since it’s a method of pulling it out directly with a needle, bleeding is unavoidable. I’m currently waiting for a scab to form after stopping the bleeding, and the key seems to be managing this scab well until it falls off naturally. It is a bit inconvenient to have to be careful so the scab doesn’t fall off prematurely when washing my face or going about daily life.

In Conclusion #
It was an acupuncture therapy I started with fear, but after actually doing it, it was less painful than I thought, and I’m quite satisfied that it could be solved in one go. Now I’m going to watch the progress for about 10 days and wait for the skin to regenerate beautifully. If you are worried about a raised mole but burdened by doing laser treatment multiple times, I think it’s a method worth considering at least once.
I’ll share another review later showing the clean look after the scab falls off!
